Contract Design Engineer – Frame & Suspension Structures | Banbury, UK (On-Site)

 

Are you a mechanical design engineer with expertise in lightweight structures and suspension systems? This is an exciting opportunity to join a cutting-edge project, redesigning the frame and suspension for an innovative four-wheeled eBike. Based in Banbury, this outside IR35 consulting project is the chance to shape a next-generation product, offering hands-on engineering challenges with real-world impact.

 

Scope of the Role

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing a new frame and suspension concept, focusing on simplicity, durability, and ease of manufacturing.

 

  • Lead the redesign of the eBike’s frame and suspension system.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in materials and manufacturing.
  • Develop and refine 3D CAD models in SolidWorks.
  • Optimise suspension layout for reliability, ride quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure the design is robust, scalable, and production-ready.

 

Key Skills and Experience Required

To be considered for this Mechanical Design Engineer contract, you’ll need the following skills and experience:

 

  • Extensive experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Expertise in welded steel structures and lightweight frame design.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Strong background in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly).
  • Experience with fatigue analysis and reliability engineering.
