Job Description

This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer with a background in product development and an interest in working across the full lifecycle of medical device design. Whether you’ve previously worked as a mechanical design engineer or product design engineer, this is an opportunity to apply your skills to technically challenging projects in a growing R&D team.

You’ll focus on developing innovative products from concept to manufacturing, solving mechanical challenges, and delivering designs that meet both technical and client requirements. Experience with tools such as SolidWorks or CREO will be particularly valuable as you’ll create detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings to a high standard.

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll:

  • Design and develop products using SolidWorks.
  • Prototype and test designs, iterating to refine performance and functionality.
  • Solve mechanical challenges while ensuring designs are suitable for manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and to specification.
  • Support the development of innovative solutions for a range of medical device applications.

What You’ll Need

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience working in a design-focused role, such as mechanical design engineer or product design engineer.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, CREO or NX.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical mechanisms and manufacturing processes like injection moulding.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and excellent communication skills.

What’s On Offer

The role includes:

  • A salary of £35,000–£40,000.
  • Paid overtime with the option to take time off in lieu.
  • Flexible working hours around core business times (10am–3pm).
  • 5% company pension contributions.
  • Income protection and life assurance schemes.
  • Holidays starting at 22 days per year, increasing up to 25 with service.

How to Apply

To express interest, please apply with your CV and any relevant portfolio materials.

This is an opportunity to work on interesting projects in medical device design, develop your expertise, and be part of a collaborative team environment. If you’re ready for the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you.
